When set to the manufactures recommended figure of 45mm, my 1190R suffers from a lot of noise from the chain area, which I assume is chain slap, quite apparent at low speeds. Setting the tension to 35mm makes a big difference and quietens things down but I am concerned this is too tight. Has anyone else come across this issue? what do you find is the optimum tension
Slacken the chain off. Get a ratchet strap around the seat/subframe and wheel. Compress the rear so the output shaft(sprocket), swing arm pivot and axle are aligned in a straight line. Adjust the chain so it snug...not tight. That's your new correct setting point.
