I've have just had one arrive (after much deliberation - rugged roads, touratwat, black dog etc). So will keep you posted as and when fitted.

    Dirty GiT

Here's mine, needs soap. Well pleased with it. Very noisy on fast gravel but that just tells you its working. Got a handy tool compartment as well

likey likey, have you any more pics from other angles? im deciding between this one at the touratwat one... but this is edging ahead cos its 50 quid cheaper and has the tool compartment.
does mud catch alot at the front? looks like it's eaten some mud..
also is it all aluminum or is there a steal reinforcement?

    New to the Adventure scene.

Is the standard underguard too flimsy? Also, can you safely jack (hydraulic with bit of a platform) up an Adventure with the standard underguard in place?

Standard guard is a dust-cover at best. A decent-sized stone flung up by the front wheel will punch a hole in it.

A 200kg bike has a lot of energy to dissipate when it comes down on something immovable.

Here is my bike after a hit on a rock.

Now, lets look a little closer ...

All of the the all-aluminium ones I have seen will bend like that if they take a direct hit. They all bend a little too easy IMO.
For all the shit that Touratwat sell, their sump guard with the steel subframe is actually pretty good.

Better protection on the left side. Access to battery terminals is a bit more difficult but I fitted an Optimate lead through to the tank storage compartment and all is well

No apologies for the dirt, bike gets ridden.

I think your bashplate did its job well Mooky. Better beating the plate back into shape than having the impact transmitted through to engine casing. I'll go with the Alu every time.
