Mmm - please think about my 990 next week as it is in the shop for a bit of open heart surgery !
All goes back to an issue with the neutral light mechanism and it appears something on the end of the gear selector drum has moved slightly, meaning the neutral light shows when I am riding along quite happily in 3rd gear......
The part being replaced is only about ÂŁ50 but as it is inside the gearbox it's an engine out/crankcase split job

Thank f*ck for KTM's extended warranty
But whilst it is apart we will be going through the bike with a fine tooth comb. In 30 months the bike has now done nearly 18,000 miles. So there is a new water pump seal/shaft and bearings going in. Spare set of clutch plates ready and waiting depending on what the old ones look like. Full service being done as well as well as front fork service.
To date the clutch slave has given no problems - but am fitting one of the Oberon slave cylinders when it all goes back together
plus one of these
This plate replaces the OEM plastic version. Oberon say the billet aluminium version will improve the mounting of either the original Slave Cylinder or the Oberon replacement KTM Clutch Slave Cylinder, also due to the natural heat dissipation of this alloy a cooler running condition will allow better operation and more reliable performance from the clutch action. Will wait and see the results .....

Rear shock spring is corroded - was thinking about stripping it and getting it powder coated or replacing it but decided to go for one of these instead - http://www.rg-racing.com/browseBike/KTM/990_Adventure/All_Years/SHOCK6BK.aspx wayyyyyyy cheaper - will just make sure everything inside has a good coating of ACF 50 before fitting
Plus new tyres, battery, chain and sprocket kit and possibly even a set of tubeless Alpina rims as well.......................
