After some ummming and arrring i finally took the plunge and bought a set of Akros for the Duke and they are fitted & Re-map.
i managed to find a couple of Raul Moat lookalikeys to help me carry the stock exhausts to the car.
Then took the bike for a gentle tootle around the countryside. What a difference it feels like a completely different bike, i don't know if it's just in my head but it's nowhere near as snatchy on the throttle. i know what people mean when they say it feels down on power but i think that is because it is smoother. Weight difference clearly makes it better and the noise is superb.
All the grovelling and snivelling to her in doors appears to have been worthwhile.:666:
i dont want to push it with her but already thinking 'What next' maybe something a little less expensive like sprockets ?:D

In fact it is not a temperature problem but an indication problem. My mates SDR occasionally indicates a hot engine, meaning all the bars on the instrument panel are lit. We already checked if the fan starts and if the temperature is too high, but found nothing unusual so far.
We took the headlight of, disconnected all plugs, sprayed a little WD40 and plugged them together again. But still all bars come on from time to time.
Can you please tell me where the temperature sensor is located. I will then replace it and see if the problem is still there.

Thanks,

A quick intro as I've now added a 2007 SDR to my stable.

First impressions:-

My god the engine is civlised??? it trickles along in 1st/2nd gear and no snatchy throttle. What the hell happened to the horrible boingy KTM signature response?

The suspension teeters between hilarious fun to "I think my spine has fused together"

Windblast ain't that bad on the motorway

The seat makes me cry after 40 minutes if not on b roads

Makes me want to race everyone

Everyone wants to talk to you about it

My mum said "why did you buy a ladies bike........." (she's hardcore)

hi guys , i went out to matlock last weekend and found i was loosing pressure in my clutch lever! the clutch its self feels fine the bike torquie as hell its not slipping at all, so when i got home took the res cap off to find the fluid is black? Ive been using DOT fluid not sure if it is correct spec for the bike? anyway i cracked the bleed nipple off at the cylinder near the gear lever put on a pipe and put it in a tub a brake fluid and started to pump away i soon realized that the res on the clutch lever was not going down! so i locked off the bleed nipple on the master cylinder, and found i lost all pressure in the lever. so Ive tried to bleed the clutch lever up at the bleed nipple on the lever and the handle bars and i cant get any fluid up whats so ever:confused: can anyone help please its pissing me right of at the moment:frown:

Revs bounce after adjusting the TPS

Already posted this on www.superduke.net (http://www.superduke.net) but thought I'd try my luck here as well.

Already posted this on www.superduke.net but thought I'd try my luck here as well.

I just did the TPS check as my bike has been suffering from low idle problems.
- Cleaned the Throttle Bodies with limited improvements
- Throttle free play has been checked by the dealer
- Diagnostics did not show any issues
- side stand switch cleaned and checked

My next step was to check the Throttle Position Sensors (TPS)
According to the manual they should be set at:
Front: 0.6v (closed throttle) - 3.8v (open throttle)
Rear: 1.0v (closed throttle) - 4.3v (open throttle)

When I checked I found that the front TPS (black connector) was showing 0.75v at closed throttle & 3.66v at full open.
Made some adjustments and the front TPS (black connector) was showing 0.64v at closed throttle & 3.51v at full open.

Did the 15min idle and she sits and idles fine.

After the 15min ECU reset I started the bike up again and she went up to 3000rpm, before dropping back down to 1500rpm. When I run the engine and I hold the revs at say a steady 3000rpm all seems OK but when i increase the throttle at 3500 or 4000rpm the revs start to 'bounce' up and down. (~500rpm up/down)

Went for a short test ride and the symptoms are the same plus it doesn't drop the revs below 3000rpm when I close the throttle in gear.
So went back to the house.

Why is it that when the TPS is within the parameters I still have this problem.

The rear was spot on at the first reading but now I do not get a open throttle reading (both 2nd valves do respond to throttle openings) -
Rear TPS at closed throttle is now 0.98 - no open reading.
Front TPS at closed throttle is now 0.64 - open reading 3.51v.

Any ideas?

Went to work yesterday and pressed the button to set the alarm.... went to leave last night and can't disarm the alarm. Switched on the ignition and of course triggered the alarm. Tried new battery in the fob... nothing... tried another battery also with new battery.... nothing? Battery now drained through the indicators flashing, thought I'd charge the battery see if the alarm is now dead but removed the seat and set the bastard off again :-( tried pluggin in the optimate and that doesn't seem happy and the alarm unit makes weird noises so unplugged that.

Any ideas on how to reset the thing..... booked in for Silverstone on Monday :-( need to get news tyres fitted etc and could do without this shit. I hate bikes with keys let alone alarms!!

Its the KTM badged alarm on a 2005 990.... I'm assuming factory fitted?

There'll be at least 3 of us riding Superdukes at Brands this Friday (me, Shade and Hawkman) so if anyone else is around and wants to book in, or even just turn up and be our brolly dollies. Clinky has threatened to stop by, and perhaps Weeksy too...

For those who've never been, it's a pretty nice venue even if you're not riding, (half decent grub, coffee and even a proper gear shop) and is about 40 mins out of Central London, or much less from the South East, where the M25 meets the A20.

Weather forecast can't make up it's mind, but it is supposed to be getting warmer and drier after this Thursday... so fingers crossed.
