    Any Mechanices need some advice please

    Got a 99 ford focus 1.8 diesel driving fine yesterday came to start today nothing it will turn over but will not start any ideas. I've been told that when it goes like that its the fuel pump & there about £1000 sorry its a bit open ended cheers Koopz

    check your key, ford has a small chip in the plastic fob if that has fallen out or been damaged then it may not start, try starting with the spare

    Good shout just tried but no it just turns over.Any other ideas

    I haven't but i will. Everything is working lights etc & it turns over very strong its as if its not getting any fuel.

    a very long shot, try jumping it from another car incase bat just hasn't that little bit extra, if no go then fuel, can u access the pump? to undo the line and check if fuel is being pumped from the pump (or access the fuel line under the bonnet? good luck

    Take the air cleaner off and dribble fuel in while cranking it over. If it starts, the compression is OK. If it wont start, its got so tired there is not enough compression to run.

    Remove intercooler and tap on electronic part of diesel pump whilst someone cranks it over , with ignition on just listen to the pump see if yu can here a buzzing sound coming from the edc control , check the wiring plug going to the pump ...have seen broken wires there , if still no go get it code tested if you have codes to do with control sleeve most likely pump has failed ..commonish on the cav type pumps .
