    Question CB Radios

Are these still used in the UK??

I'm looking for something to listen to in the van on Sunday nights whilst hoofing from Manchester to Edinburgh..... there's nothing other than yoof, classical or sodding country on the radio.... doing my head in. Even Alan Titchmash is now a DJ.... that's desparate!!!

Put it this way, the best station so far is Radio Cumbria as I'm passing the lakes, I tend to track hop with CD's so I just want something to scan, maybe should get a scanner??

    What do truckers use??

I think Maplins still sell CB's,not as popular (with trucks or anyone else) as they once were, mobile phone aren't as expensive,as fer scanners the police use digital radios now so all you will get is the odd plane goin over, before mobile phones went digital (early/mid nineties) used to pick up phone calls on my scanner, you cant even pick up TV broadcasts since they started goin digital.Stick wi cd's or buy an i-pod or summet.

Podcasts mate Download em from decent radio shows and listen at your leisure
Some good uns - Iain Lee (absolute radio), Fighting Talk - Colin Murray (5 live), Richard Herring - As It Occurs To Me
It's what I do at work now cos I can't bear most of the fucking awful shite thats on through the day. I'll listen to Shaun Keaveny on 6 music in the morning, Jeremy Vine usually and thats it.

If using a mobile phone while driving is illegal surly a CB Radio would be as well.

Not that I would want a CB radio anyway really, I always thought the people that used such things were a bit on the immature side.
