    250EXC Racing - Fah'n thing !!! What am I missing?

Just collected my recently purchased 03 250exc. Never had a KTM before. Fuel tap on, choke out, side stand up, neutral found ...... press starter ..... NOTHING. No turning of engine, no clicking, NOTHING. Used kick starter .... NOTHING. Push bike from standstill and the digital dash stuff comes on. Am I missing something?

No ignition key on these right? Checked and pressed and pressed again, the kill switch. It doesn't have two positions like most bikes I've owned (ie there's no click and fully out or half in that I'm familiar with).

Is there a magic button somewhere? Failing that, can someone pop round and help me lift it into the skip!!!!

My exc had a key. Are you getting a spark when you kick it over?

Thanks for the help. Excuse my worthlessness as a spanner monkey, but how do I tell if there's a spark when I kick it over? Can't see an ignition barrell anywhere and I definately didn't get a key. I've done the obvious for me and put the battery on charge, but somwhow I don't think that's the problem.

Im no mechanic either mate. Just trying to think of obvious stuff. Soemone else will have a better idea on here. Could always take the spark plug out and kick it over. Keeps your fingers out the way tho.

Pull the plug cap off, undo the spark plug, pop it back in the cap, put the plug and cap against a metal part on the bike and kick over, you should then see a spark across the plug gap

Thanks, that's very clear and I think even I can do that. I'll get onto it and report back what happens.

Thanks for the help guys. We could have gone on forever but not started it. Turns out to have a little switch that acts as an immobiliser. Flicked that and started first prod of the button. Sorted!!
