I bought a car with outstanding finance but it was a lex lease car. One phone call cleared it up, just wasn't updated. If you call the finance you can agree a price with the seller minus the finance left

To me this sounds like banker wankers having their cake and eating it.

Lloyds have lent someone money on their own credit rating, hence the name personal loan, should he chose to spent that money on a car, bike, hair transplant or penis enlargement should be of no concern of the lender.

If the recipient of the loan they stops paying it is for the lender to pursue the debt through the court. They can hardly repossess a hair transplant or cock enlargement even in Wazza's case.

If the bike was on hp, lease purchase, PCP or contract hire then steer clear. If you are certain it is on a loan then buy cheap and write on the receipt that you are purchasing on the understanding the seller will pay off the outstanding loan amount, whether he does or not noone can take the vehicle from you.

Yup give then a call. I don't think a receipt is good enough. If they are not the legal owner if the bike they do not have the right to sell it. I tried to sell 'what's app' to Facebook and they found me out.

I've come across a scam before where people have taken out finance on a vehicle just before they sell it. When you do the check it comes up clean but within a short time it get registered and then your too late. This was quite a few years ago so things may have changed by now.

Lloyds are a shower of shit, I bank with them. They are just trying to tie an asset to what looks like another loan.
