Got my lad a Suzuki LT50 , absolutley bombproof , He had it for nearly two year from his 6th birthday , paid 475 and cleaned it up and sold for 350 after nearly two years use , they've got a restrictor bolt on the thumb throttle to slow them down till they get used to it , you can derestrict the motor for even more go later on .

I must be lucky, or unlucky depending which way you look at it!!

My 7 yr old has been on a motorbike since he was 3... I bought him at 3 a cheapo Chinese MX bike for £150 new. I lowered it so he could get on it. Threw it away after 12 months and bought a Honda crf50, v very easy to ride and nice and quiet... He rode that for two years, and I sold it for what I paid for it.

He then went onto an Oset 36, again very easy to ride, and silent.... But only lasts 1 1/2 hours on a charge, but a great bike for a 6 year old to start on...

He is currently on a Ktm 50, which he is just crazy on, once they get a taste for the speed, there is no going back..

Try him on a Kids trials bike, like a Gas gas 50 or beta 50, no gears just twist and go... Or even an Oset, if noise is an issue..

    Regards

I was looking at the oset but dont they have to be ridden standing up? I thought it would be best to start him sitting down. Ill have a look at that club as not too far from me.

x2 for the lt 50 , put my daughter on 1 at 4 yrs old and she loved it , good thing is you can restrict the throttle down to walking pace , mine also had a cord wrapped up in a little pouch at the rear of the bike that you can un-wind and if they get carried away you pull the cord and it cuts the engine dead which is great and i truly believe bulletproof is an understatement , 12 years i had it, infact sold it to a mate just last xmas for his daughter , i gave 900 for it new sold it for 300 and apart from oil change the only thing i replaced was the spark plug in 12 years and it has had alot of stick , even used to pull her about on a sledge with it in the snow, 1 thing i think is really important when kids are starting out on bikes is the quieter the better , i think the noise some kids bikes make frightens the life out of them when your an adult theres nothin better than listening to an engine sing when the powerbands kick in but i think it terrifys some kids

They are aimed at a starter bike into trials, so yes strictly speaking you stand up, whilst riding, but can also be ridden sat down, with ya backside sat on rear guard. Not built for comfort, but great for being able to put your feet down, as the seat is really low, which does give the kids some security!!!

It's just the top speed of these trials based bikes is safe enough, to let your kids learn on... Take him along to a youth Trials event.... There are loads of Oset trials events also, take a look on the Oset site, also Sandiford Off Road list Oset trials dates.

    Regards

Keep pushin him. Tell him you will disown him if he doesn't try. Tell him your disappointed in him lol

    This is mine

Thankfully he loves bikes and as soon as he's old enough and confident on a push bike he will have a pw50.

Stabilizers off the pushbike first then he'll get his confidence.
