Are lowered seats worth it?

Broken legs worked his magic on my 200 suspension and also dropped it 1 inch with the internals. I'm 5ft 7 so I'm thinking if it would be even better with a lowered seat.

Are there any other vertically challenged people with limited talent who have done similar?

As i'm a 6 foot 3 riding god i'll tell you about my shortarse friend who can't ride for shit...

He got his suspension dropped by brokenbiscuit and uses a lowered seat. He says the seat doesn't make a massive difference but as Tesco says, every little helps.

what year is your bike?

ahh, just seen your sig....04

I have a low seat on my bike. Don't really need it @5'11 but when was the last time you stopped your bike and felt it would be better if you couldn't put your feet down? I think it helps on the tough terrain.

I have lowered seats on both mine, I sculpted one myself as I wanted it lower. Yes they are a bit harder but I try not to sit down, gives two options when you lose your balance. I find it helps on the extreme stuff when the talent runs dry!!.

Yes worth it. I broke my low seat recently so had to put the standard one back on. It was loads more comfortable but didn't feel as in control over the tricky stuff.
I have a sculpted one for an '06 exc if you are interested? Not sure if it would fit yours.

Brill. I'm running out of excuses to blame the bike so this could be one less. Just more saddle time needed I think. Might nip to Cowm this weekend

From my extensive one month and complete novice experience I can 100% say that a lowered seat makes a big difference learning all the basic skills; wheelies, standup wheelies - progressing into log hops or up and down steps, and what not. I'd been making pretty slow progress over the last couple of weeks as I couldn't get control of standup wheelies in particular which was making anything else pretty much impossible to learn. The KTM went into the dealers for the first service and I used the GasGas Pampera that I had bought for my 5ft 3inch girlfriend. It's got a way lower seat than the KTM and within a couple of days I had loads more control lifting and holding the front wheel sitting down and soon started doing standup wheelies as well. Back on the KTM this week and I'm loads better than before, I can wheelie on the balance point for three or four blasts of the throttle and I can control the front wheel enough when standing up to keep it lifted when I go over logs and up steps. A trials bike is definately on my list of things to buy as the low seat of the Pampera really accelerated my learning progression.

i have to do this on every bike i buy,
i used to buy power parts seats but now i trim mine down with a hac saw blade, and finish it off with sandpaper, got pretty good at it too,
i now cut every seat down and leave a step then fit a time card holder while the seat cover is off, you cant buy this option in power parts and if you ask me its comfier than powerparts
