It would be great if you could post your personal Mikuni carb set up including jet sizes, needles, clip positions, float height, airscrew etc. and how your bike runs/behaves with your set up.

Its also useful if you add the altitude you took as reference and maybe the temperature. And of course which bike you have....

Having an own thread about jetting the 2017 smokers makes it easier to find the required information. Hope you agree :smokin:

Needle 43/73 as 2 turns clip 2 pilot 40 main 450 mix 60-1 exol oil
Altitude sea level
Float height factory set
temps 10-25 very strong clean and right on the money fuel economy excellent

Is it worth people saying what 2t oil they are using to? I know it sounds daft but my 200 runs differently on Motorex compared to Exol compared to Saber 100:1 (will try this again but need a jet tweak). It runs fine on all but some are cleaner than others and you can feel a difference.

No, it's the other way round :rolleyes:

silver is tickover, little brass is AS

Same here. I have the German version of the owners manual and it is described wrong. The idle screw is the big one with the spring and the air-screw is the small brass one. They have mixed up the numbers in the drawings. Twats.

I bet your As has been turned in. That bike should be sweet

Needle 43/73 as 2 turns clip 2 pilot 40 main 450, no idea on AS but started at 2 and it's prob around 1.25-1.5 at a guess

I can only assume it's fine tuning but perhaps you should let the Greek have a look at it

EH?

Today I saw a very strange KTM set up sheet. I only have it in German but it says there "please make sure that this document is not given to third parties!" The doc is called "Race Prep EXC 2017" and doesnt contain anything which is secret or so. It just tells you how to uncork the bike and that customers have to sign that they have been advised that the uncorked version is illegal for road use.

However, for those who may be interested KTM recommends the basic carb setup for 301meters to 750 meters (you may remember that's the one which had a black outline in the pre 2017 owners manuals), so thats 988 to 2460 feet.
Needle: 43/73
Clip #: 3
Pilot: 35
Main: 440
A/S: 2 turns out

Because I felt the 37.5 on 2 was a tad lean and with the 40 on 2 it's seamless and strong

I didn't look in the manual......

It describes it with some confusion in mine but oatsey's going to have to fess up sooner or later he's been playing with the Idle instead of the AS and his bike is fine lol lol

Honestly you crack me up
I'd probably have that bike of yours purring in 5 minutes
rode mine up the street earlier had to be 30 degrees ish and it was crisp instant and seamless all that I have done is turn the idle in small increments and set the AS to 1.5 ish as fast as I can snap the throttle it picks up
I'm rubbing my hands over what the Greek will say lol I'm hoping he raps your knuckles with a ruler lol lol

hmmmm, the brass screw( right at the back of the carb, just infront of the boot) hardly changes the idle

the silver screw changes the idle massively :rotflmao:

For tomorrow they said it will be bloody hot, about 30 degrees

I will try ktm450awyeah's (you have a name too?) set up or go a bit leaner. I love crisp response between zero and 1/2 throttle, it helps in the very slow sections. Guess I will go for that.

OK, I tell you the truth, I have no fucking clue how I will set it up, its a rotten Mikuni piece of shit :censored:
