    125 EXC gearbox

    Morning Gents,

My little 125 has started to develop a little niggle where engaging 1st gear isn't always easy. It feels notchy and I don't want to do any damage in there by being rough with it.

Any tips on what it may be and how I go about fixing it please (i've not been in a gearbox before!)?

    Cheers

    Mike

could be shift mechanism worn out. take clutch side cover off as well as the clutch so you can view the parts see how worn they are. the spring on the shift shaft can wear sometimes. Further into the engine the slector drum and forks could be worn out. What year is she ?

Its a 2007 exc with little work (125 hours) on the clock, but previous owner replaced speedo for this 2nd hand unit. he said it has done more like 75 hours and its very tidy.. KIY put a new clutch and crank in for me earlier this year and also said it was very clean inside. It runs up and down the box perfectly but doesn't snick from 2 to 1, unless you stop in neutral on the way?

Lever hitting frame indeed - moved lever around a couple of notches on the spline and bingo

    Thanks Gents
