Screw you digger driver person. Screw you.

Apparently someone up Peaslake way thinks it's amusing to "install" hidden ditches across the middle of byways without any warning whatsoever. Ninja barhop and 30 minutes of yanking a heavy-bastard 690 out of a ditch on my own - good thing I was taking it easy!

Yes I know, I'm a big girl and I should have been going a gazillion miles an hour and cleared it with a Superman seat grab....

How did you end up inside it? It does look easily jumpable but then if you are not expecting it I guess you are not in the frame of mind for it. Farmers always messing up trails (mountain biking especially) up round Peaslake way.

I've only been offroading for a few weeks now. When I'm out on my own and I don't know a lane very well I take it pretty easy. In short: I'm a big girl. Rode over nice and slow, "oh fuuuuuuu...", jump over bars and proceed to yank bike out of ditch - which took me a very long time I might add. Marvel at my suckiness. LooooooL

the problem is nowdays people will do anything to keep people from riding/driving green lanes, and this is a example in its finest hour. its like these 'people' that are putting bits of wire/rope across a lane it just takes the fun away when your riding and thinking is there going to be a lump of rope in front of me? yet the ramblers can use the pathways and green lanes and sometimes make more of a puddly shit hole than bikes and not one eyelid is blinked!

How the fuck......? Did you not see that big pile of dirt with ditch next to it?

If thats a legal route then report it to the local highways dept and the old bill. Its an offence to block a highway of any kind. Although it looks like it could be alot of fun, maybe we should have more of them.

you were on you mountain bike and you tried to carry it over and hurt your back when you slipped in the trench tell the police and you want to make a proper complaint and take it further, the farmer will have to fill it in private land or not, look in to it
They used to do it around our neck of the woods but it just made it more fun lol

As I said, I'm a novice. I was pootling up from the left nice and slow - and from there all you could see was a little mound with tyre tracks going over it. By the time I saw the ditch I was already riding over the mound and all I could do was let the bike plop into the ditch front wheel first and jump off over the bars. If you click the video link at the bottom of my post you'll see what I saw on my "approach". LoL.
And yeah, that's my wing mirror. It's a ram mount one so it just twisted round on the ball...no damage there.
