hey the rc8 has just landed down here(nz) fell in love straight away from what I have read so far the rc8 would be a good step I must admit when mid corner on the 800 I dont think I need more power but I do want to know what 140hp is like any thoughts for me to consider

    Tear Your Arms Out!!!!!

Oh come come...buy a fast bike and one with attitude then you will know that feeling. My RC8 is a pussycat..granted a very big 1 but power is linear and smooth. No drama @all. Big fours with warp factor power after 10,000 now thats another matter.

Yup, gotta agree with you Mr Beetle... the RC8 is so easy to ride. I've never fancied a 1000cc inline 4 for the very reason that they can bite back hard if you don't know what you're doing... and I don't have enough faith in my abilities, lol.

yeah yeah i just got of my fireblade and straight onto my RC8 and yes it is easier to ride but the difference in torque and the way you can feed the power on is much more impressive than the blade which was also smooth in its power delivery, and my SP1 which was very snatchy, all in all this bike is under estimated and full noise acceleration brings a smile and laugh , i plan getting agressive tomorrow with my ORANGE CRUSH. Orange Crush

i like that description..i am impressed by my RC8 and SD990. I like the way they both ride and feel. The blade will out pace the RC8 and most of the opposition in this class are all capable of getting silly. The 1098 i rode was a revalation compared to the Aprilia Tuono i last owned but alas not as roomy as the RC8. I really would not look forward to a ride of 500+ miles on the Duke. I am happy with ALL the RC8 delivers but i only posted to say it is not as potent a tool as others have to offer, thats all. If we are all put on a track i'm sure most would not be able to live up to the bike's capabilities no matter how good we THINK we are.

On a more serious note with all the negative posts with regard to problems, is there any way of knowing what state your RC8 is in when it left the factory. Have i got the latest 'O' ring..spring..water pump..circlip..ext. I dont for one moment think KTM dealers are going to call and say bring it in for a mod. If the oil pump and gearbox are affected by a clip coming off then i would have thought that was major. Be good if a post LISTING real dealer fix's that are required was kept upto date and all could view.

I've got to say that I'm really not fussed that the power isn't up there with the big inline 4s - I was always more than happy with the power my 750k6 kicked out - all very useable - like that of the RC8.

It wasn't the power that got me hooked in to the RC8 - it was the handling - absolutely bloody awesome

Sorry you're having a bad time of it but it ain't slow!! I'm sure I'd feel the same if I had a problem and had no confidence in handling but I'd place it on a par with the jap thous. I followed a Gixxer thou round some twisties who thought he'd fook off and leave be standing but easily kept up with him and was able to corner much faster. And that was while breaking in the engine! I appreciate not the same as track but you can't call it slow and I have every confidence in mine, it shook its head coming out of a few corners but that's cos didn't wind up the steering damper enough.

I traded a 05 zx10r in for my mine and rc8 does feel very pedestrian after that but it handles superb, best handling bike ive ever ridden and I always said i'd prefer more midrange torque than top end horsepower and I suppose thats what ive got.
As for gearbox I dont seem to have any props at all(touch wood) It feels nice and slick with no missed gears at all. Cant excuse the fueling though that is shite!
