    power release

Have been reading on another forum about a restriction to 70% of the available power in gears 1, 2, and 3. And that it is possible to release this extra power by the disconnecting 2 gear sensing wires that tell the ECU what gear you are in so that it can restrict the amount of power in the lower gears. Would like info on where the wires are and which ones to disconnect please.
Apparently when you have the remap done for the acroprovich pipe this restriction is rmoved in the software!
    Thanks in advance.

I spoke to my dealer about this, the power gains aren't as dramatic as you think, he convinced me it wasn't worth doing although he was happy to do it for me. You lose maybe 5% in the lower half of the rev range in the first 3 gears, that intern helps with traction and with a 0-60mph in 2.8sec you need all the traction you can get.....a better mod would be to change the front sprocket to a 16t, that will be a real gain.

    Restrictor removal

The 2 dealers i deal with did not recommend either...the Suzuki dealers also did not recommend the same mod 2 the gsxr1000 k5. Just do it it AINT a big deal....hard to say exactly how much diffrence but I was lead 2 believe it was a MAJOR mod...Bo11ock's. SD990 and RC8 have been done and i would say itis hard to tell..SD is a little more front wheel flighty but RC8 was no diffrent. I get really cheesed @ MASSIVE exaggeration of modifications and there subsequent power / change. The akro on the RC8...2 teams that are racing them have only found 3-5BHP improvement from akro alone..WOW WOW WOW £1700 for 5bhp ...the guy i passed on the RC8 when i was out on mi SD990 would have been better advised to spend the money on track days learning how to go round corners faster rather than spending all that money and then breaking @ the 1st sign of a bend then blast it on the straight..Pointless. Sorry just going through the fourum and i wish some people would just say i want to change the bike because i can, not try to justify it on some very weak argument. And before i get a barrage of replies YES i have rode an RC8 back 2 back with an akro against my own. The actual noise was good but i didnt get any surprises in performance ON THE ROAD and it is alot of money for me 2 say it sounds better. IMO anyway.
see link for mod to restrictor in 2nd /3rd...the connector is behind frame tube on the gear leaver side, follow the vertical tube up from foot peg and just below tank @ the back is the connector. dont cut the wires just pop the connections out of the plastic housing with a watch makers screw driver. fold wires back and insulate sothey dont short / water can't get into joint.

very simple mod but there is no difference between the two settings.
front sprocket is absolutely right, you will start from first gear with no resistance (as you mount it you understand that the original was too long).
I haven't try the max speed with this sprocket that it will be maybe not so high, but I don't need to go at jumbo speed.
The original engine haven't so much power as I imagine, is lower than my "charged" charged (http://www.specialmag.it/images/COVE...640/07frtb.jpg), but I'm sure that with some little (and expensive) mod like akra, tuneboy and maybe something to intake "she" will became a tiger.

    Power

The RSV has lower claimed power than RC8 and group tests have shown this in real world...even the mighty 1098 has been shown to be close to KTM. I loved my Tuono ....each manufacturer has diffrent character and the bikeyou choose is based on what you get on with i guess.

Probably get laughed at here... but why (on the road) would you want any more power anyway? I dropped the front sprocket -1 because it makes the bike easier to ride around town. I fitted the Akra because it looks and sounds bloody ace. A consequence of fitting it has meant improved fueling which I'm more than happy with.

    I'm a tart, I admit it. I don't give a sh*t

Absolutely, but the rc8 engine isn't so high, the 1098 has more power and there are some difference between (it's normal) any rc8 so you can even get a not very power engine.
The magnesium engine of the rsv it's near 10cv less then the rc8...but mine get about 25more..so you can imagine the difference.
It's only a personal pleasure because I love the twin and I don't need the jumbo power or I can simply choose a 4cil. to get it.

This mod only makes a difference in 2nd & 3rd gear and only effects the last 20% of throttle opening IIRC so you won't even notice it unless you always have it pinned to the stop in those gears, I'd say as it costs nothing and takes little time and is completely reversible you may as well do it and maybe those couple of times when you have it pinned it'll give you a tiny bit more.

Some people cut the wires but it's just as easy to pop the pins out of the housing with a flat electrical screwdriver or paper clip and just tape them up, you can then reinsert them whenever you want just in case dealer gets funny about it.

    Mods Akro & Restriction

FAT TONY you are a star..i like it when some 1 admits they do a change cos they can and dont justify on grounds of over exagerated power gains, got to agree it looks the dogs. if money no object i would have 1 and the black carbon body kit. I got to admit i did not really notice a change in fueling with the akro and re-map which is why i was trying them back to back. Both my bike and the shops i think are good. I have posted before i have a SD990 which i think fuels good and only prob with RC8 is tall gearing. Picking up a 16tooth this afternoon ready for the ride to Oulton for BSB on Sunday.
I had a K1200R for a year, shaft drive so no way of altering the gearing and a throttle that did not like being used unless on or off, i think some of the guys should test ride the K then see what poor fueling is like.
