    Not an RC8 Owner...YET!

A few (might be stupid) questions, I wanna ask someone who owns or has ridden the bike....

I had a CBR 400 which got stolen, although I did get it back - repairing it is outa the question. So now I have found my self drooling over the RC8 from the time I have laid my eyes on it (white and black) . Although I have been reading about it being a little buggy and have seen people talking about expecting another R version or something of the sort soon?

The RC8 is gonna my like my NOT track bike.. for now.... but is a bike i would keep for a long time.. long long time!, since I'm gonna get some random 600 on the side to do the trashing coz I've still never been to a track and dont wanna abuse the ktm until I know i can handle it.

So quick questions, when is that next model coming so as to fix any bugs... if any. Secondly have not manage to get an official 0-60 on this bike - is it slower than a 750 GSX? more like what is its 0-60?
and laslty what do you guys think about the way it sounds, I mean, I have always been a fan of the high revving japanes products! so the sound kinda puts me off, maybe I just need to get used to a twin!

But I simply wanna get the bike coz its the sweetest looking two wheeler i have seen and can afford!

p.s hello im ron, new to the forum.
    oh and thanks in advance

there are some rumors going about a smaller brother...RC6. cant compare handling, turning , braking like with a jap cause its muuuch better.

    wow a quick reply!

I think you just convinced me , its just one of those products you want people to say its the best... if you know what i mean.. haha

    so its faster than a gsx750 0-100 i mean??

rc6? wow just looked into it... smaller engine..... that might be a better option for me considering i might be jumping from a 400...

    thanks though

but any exact specifics on the 0-60mph or 0-100kmph?

I think the official 0-60 is about 2.8secs. To be honest you need to get a test ride to answer your questions properly. As for the bugs they are there, but not enough to spoil the experience in my opinion although there are a few people who have had a lot of bad luck with theirs.

    GSX 750 - hell yeah
GSXR 750 - should be but like anything depends on the skills of the rider

you will soon change the front sprocket to a 16t form the OE 17t, this will improve 0-60 from a reported 2.71 seconds (fastest recorded time I have seen).
No official news on a replacement or improved model, just rumours.
As for niggles and bugs - models built later in the production run seem to have a few of them smoothed out, but those unfortunate to get one "hot of the new press" seem to be getting a few more issues than most. If you buy a new one, it should be fairly problem free.

so only rumours on a new model hmmm... no clue whatsoever ? expect date? like next year...?
btw what you guys think about the way it sounds, i've heard it live and think its more of a quad bike sounding maching, but i did not take it for a spin... idle and neutral rev sounds is all i heard..

btw fat tony, your profile photo, is that peperami the pork sausage?

    thanks for the feedback guys!

Sound is stunning. I had the pleasure of listening to mine on a dyno and it put the over grown hairdryer in line fours to shame!! My only regret is that I didn't record it for my ring tone!

It is indeed mate - we look very similar apparently, lol

As for the sound... stock sounds a bit lame but you're still looking at 100Db at 5k rpm which is louder than many bikes in stock trim... with the Akra... 102Db with the baffle in, 105Db without... turn your speakers up full and it's kinda like this

Short video clip of me at Rockingham with baffle out - sounded ace bouncing off the concrete wall!

I have to say that the bike gets loads of attention when you pull up, and when you start it up the sound doesn't quite match the look! Just as well I'm not bothered about that and that it sounds fine moving along, lovely purry growl.....
