    Akr Exhausts

    Hi Guys

Does anyone have tech info on how well the bike runs compared to stock, when you fit an akro exhaust, just about to have one fitted debating whether it is worth the money?

    Cheers

Not much by way of a power increase apparently. I've not seen a dyno chart to show whether that's the case or not but KTM quoted circa 3bhp I think. I had a 16 tooth sprocket fitted at the same time so can't comment on how much of the difference in performance is down to the Akra alone but it feels more responsive than stock as it is now.

Improved fueling - smooths things out considerably and the bike feels much free-er revving with the exhaust and supplied re-map.

Rumoured to save circa 10 kilos over the stock exhaust.

Worth it? No idea. Glad I bought it? Hell yeah!

I've had very few issues but I know others have had a few - seems to be the earlier bikes from what I've read.

I had a few failed 1st - 2nd changes during the run-in mileage. Adjusting the footpegs and gear lever helped. 1st to 2nd is still a bit clunky but engages without a problem now the bike has some mileage on it. No issues since 1st service until at Cadwell the other day when 'on it' and I/the bike screwed up 3rd - 4th (didn't engage first attempt - went in fine second attempt). Oh... dropping from 2nd to 1st coming down the Gooseneck in to Mansfield while hard on the front brakes isn't that good an idea (Hello to whoever passed me with the back end snaking all over the place, lol)

I now have the adjustable rearsets fitted which seemed to make changes slicker

The gearbox on mine requires a very light touch to change gear where a freinds is alot stiffer & requires more effort to change gear but both get false nuterals alot ( i wonder which of the bikes is the earlier model if what you say is true)

Maybe iam just to use to reliable jap bikes i expected the bike to be alot slicker than it is

    Cheers

Somebody started a thread on here trying to get an idea of production dates and any problems encountered but I don't think many people posted details in it:

I've kind of solved missing gears... DON'T USE THE CLUTCH!!! Well going up anyway... best use it coming back down again!!

I sometimes forget and that's when the problems arise... so perhaps it's a clutch issue rather than a 'box issue!!

PS I hate to get back on thread... BUT

Sounds - dB(a) is measured on a logarithmic scale, so for every 3 dB(a) the 'noise' doubles... so 105dB(a) is TWICE as loud as 103dB(a)

Not that I want to but... How do you fit the baffle?

FT Have you had any problems getting on track with the Arka?

Hiya mate. The only place that the bike's been tested is at Cadwell - twice. On both occasions it came in bang on 105Db at 5000rpm (meeting their 105Db limit - tested at 5000rpm)

The only other track I've done is Rockingham and they didn't test and were fine with it.

SUPER, I'll print off your post as proof!!

I really fancy trying Cadwell it looks fantastic on the TV. I'll take the Gixer, but try the KTM for a session!!

Off to see if I can get it all arranged!!

I can add Cadwell let my unbaffled Akra through at 5k rpm as it was 105 db..........

But Silverstone measured me on the straight on full rpm at 112db, and said no!!! So i baffled it and went back I was tested at 75% of max revs (7500rpm ish) and it measured 110db.... again no....... ..

Nice man agreed if i changed up at 6k rpm on the straight i could go out, and it worked...

Have to say the baffled akra sounds a bit deeper
