    Suspension advice please

For 250 exc 2T, SM set up.
    14-15 stone rider.
Don't want to fork out big bucks for proper su-mo setup, just want to get it set up as best I can.
Bike was being use as enduro bike before I bought it, but haven't got a clue what settings used.
All I go know is it was bouncier than a boncy thing (good fun on the dirt wheels), but 1st time out on ivkle wheels it was bottoming out (Lydd trackday).
Added 3 clicks to compression front & rear & seemed better, but want to get it sorted now.
Still dives a worrying amount when braking, so got to get that sorted.
    Settings advice please........
btw the bike is not raced, very occasional trackday, but more often country lane blasts & some easy green lanes.

i agree with Tattoo. Check front and rear sag first. Without the correct springs you will never get it right.

With both wheels off ground measure from front axle to top yoke and rear axle to a fixed point on rear mudguard.

Put bike on ground, bounce suspension and measure again (static sag)

Sit or stand on bike in normal riding position wearing your gear, bounce bike a bit and measure again .... might need someone to take measurement, but I do it myself with a length of string with tape on it. (rider sag)

    Ideal settings :
Front static sag 35 to 45mm rider sag 75 to 80mm

    Rear static sag 45 - 50mm, rider sag 115 - 120mm

Adjust the front with spacers on top of the springs (or SX caps with preload adjusters)

Adjust the rear by moving the collar on the shock. Dont overtighten the allen screw on the collar or it will snap, just nip it a bit. If you remove all the preload off the rear shock, then give it 3.75 turns you are in the middle of the adjustment range. You can then go about 2 turns in either direction, if you cannot get the sag correct within that range you need a different spring.

If it's got full length enduro suspension.... yes.

If it's got SM suspension then

Front static sag 33 to 43mm rider sag 70 to 75mm

    Rear static sag 42 - 46mm, rider sag 105 - 110mm

why thank you , kind sir,

its SM so I'll dial in the suggested dimensions.

dont think I've got adjustable pre-load on the front,
might have to shove some shims on top of the springs?

I'll wait until Ive proved my preload's totally wrong before buying adjusters
(dammit, there's no smiley option here indicating a tight git!)

I've still got the motley collection of C-ring spanners I used to set up me
VTR1000 and Xr600, just have to teach the missus how to read millimeters now for the rider sag measuring

I'd get 'Monkey' to do it <below> but he's too short to reach, and constantly pissing off for a cuppa!
