the 640 is actually 625cc (640 is the model name), i wouldn't go as far as saying it's shite compared to the 625 model, but i'd say the 640 is a better bike the the drz!

Main difference is the 625 has a flat slide carb so is a bit quicker, not sure past that what other differences there are.
so yeah it is a bit better than the 640.

The differences are the 625 has a flat slide carb as mentioned, the SXC race exhaust with no additional mid section silencer, lower gearing, 9L fuel tank and a quick release seat.
Power wise out of the crate the 625 is about 5 BHP up on the 640, feels livelier, weighs a couple of KG less and IMHO looks better with the smaller fuel tank.
A DRZ400 is shit compared with both of them though !!

must admit it aint as much fun as my xr650r i had but it was nuts to ride....![]()
As the 625 and 640 are now both of almost pensionable age - the condition of each bike after a long life may determine its performance today - rather than its original factory spec..
