    Question Akros on 690sm

Changing my original standard cans for a pair of titanium akrapovic slip-ons tomorrow. They have the removable catalytic converters and baffles. I know they will benefit from a new map, but will it do any harm running the bike for a while without the cats fitted? Will the bike perform better with a free flow air filter?

Best to get the bike remapped asap -it is likely to cause stalling issues if you do not.

I ran em for a year prior to remapping but had to keep the baffle in place to prevent stalling. Upon installing the Akra map I was able to remove the baffle and get both more power and better sound. w

Fit the new cans this morning, the weight difference is huge! Been out with the baffels in and out, no sign of fueling issues, no problem stalling either. Has any body left the baffels in and just removed the spark arresters out the end, to try get a noise between the two, think its a bit too loud with them out, but a bit muted with them in.

Theye are only to keep nuts'n bolts from falling in during fitment...

Seriously, I'm surprised your bike runs properly with these chokes in. They are only there to give the cans an EC number. You MUST remove them!!

BTW if you run the cans without the cats (you should, they eat power), the Akra map is a must.

Made the carbon tail piece and hugger myself, bought the carbon fibre cloth and resin and made a mould from fibre glass. Gonna replace all the panels with cabon fibre ones when i have got time.
