    Embarrassing prob with new 950

My 950SM was delivered today and I've found a problem already - I can't reach the side stand when its down - made me laugh out loud while I was struggling on the driveway.

Although quite short I can still touch the ground easily but cannot for the life of me reach that stand.

Just wanted to give you all a laugh too.

Congrads on your new bike, a fine choice, i may add.
Are both your legs the same length? If your feet can reach the ground you must be able to reach the side stand.
Have you tried stopping against a wall

tie your left foot to it with a long boot-lace.

Looks like you'll be folding the stand back first,
before hopping onto the bike then

Choose which foot carefully on steeply cambered roads :-)

I had to do this with my Duke 690, just make so you can swing your leg over first time.

Yeah I think that is the way forward

Just had my wife measure my legs they are within a few mm of each other.

I stood the 950 next to my XT660x and the stand is way further forward of the pegs so that combined with the way the seat rides up the tank explains it.

Went out for my first jaunt tonight to fill her up with fuel ready for the weekend and well what a laugh - feels nice and gutsy, raw and plenty of vibes - just how I like 'em. We are gonna get along like a house on fire .....

You are not alone ..............needs practice....a pointed toe and a leg sweep .....its even worse on broken ground

Dont practice leg sweep in public..............

Recommend you drop forks 10mm ....gives a slightly lower seat hight......and best of all improves handling (number one mod 10mm is good 15mm is even better but best do it in steps)....number two mod =16 tooth sproket)

Dont go for 'lower' gel seat = Plank of wood
I have seen the distant light...........and its........... Orange

I have employed 2 solutions so far:

    1. Tilt the bike towards the right side, but use the left foot to kick the side stand out before Putting the right foot down to support the bike. With some practice it can look natural.

    2. Weld a piece of U-shaped steel rod to the side stand. Simple and effective.

I personally don't like mounting after the sidestand's up - If your right leg got caught in the process, you are looking for a mjaor embarrassment.

3rd solution. Learn how to do the rolling dismount and remount.
