IS it worth converting a SM to SMT

IS it worth converting a SM to SMT

Some good deals out there on SM 990's.
So how much do you reckon you have to spend on an SM to get it near SM-t .

Does the SMT seat fit straight on and how much?
    Screen?
    handguards?
Back plate for top box. ?
    TOTAL?

    Any other suggestions?

depends what you use it for! It would always be a compromise between the two surely?

    Er.....No and no...!

The sm is an accomplished bike already, I personally prefer the look of the sm and think it would be an unnecessary expense to "convert" it...just improve what it already is
I love my 990sm it's ACE....But, playing about in the mud is SO much more fun...!!!

I'm sure I've read here or on ADVrider that the SMT seat fits straight on the 990SM (not the 950). Easy and relatively cheap way to switch from solo ragging it mode to comfy touring mode and back again. Sticking the panner racks and larger panniers on takes minutes and leaves the pillion seat free too. The SMT panniers look a bit weeny to me. I bought the ergo seat and panniers for my 950SM off the for sale section here for sensible money and they're both good enough for me to tour with. Been on two 2000 mile trips to France, Spain & Portugal with no trouble. If I had to replace my 950 I'd definitely go for a 990SM over the SMT or ADV. Mainly for looks (subjective I know) but also for versatility.
