Thread: 950 SM Newbie questions

Hi Everyone,

I have just bought a 2005 950 SM from ebay yesterday. I am picking it up on Saturday and was wondering if there were any areas for concern that I need to look for.

I have had bikes for years (raced mx, had gixers, R1's, big Aprilias etc etc) and know my way around bikes but just wanted to be completely aware of the foibles or weak points to look for. The bike has done 10,000 miles and has a full service history.

Any info will be gratefully received.

Lovely... have saved to favourites... bit more info please mate. Reasons, fitting, other bits needed ? I can do the spannering side OK but need a bit more info

I owned a SMR for 6 months but never had any issues etc.... so never looked into anything.

you need to replace it as they are known to fail from 10k onwards and leave you stranded. or make you crash^^. the points get all corroded. this thread should sort you out.

Hi Guys

Many thanks for the replies, but keep them coming as I like to go fully armed with all the information.

This one is in London and it was a bloody bargain, but time will tell if its a bargain when I see it in the flesh. I live in North Wales and will be borrowing my mates van and schlepping down to collect it this Saturday......just out of interest has anyone used one of these bike courier companies that collect and deliver bikes for people.
