    950/990 SM race/track bike ?

Anyone seen one of these modded to be used on the track, friend loves his big bikes and has asked me what I think. Maybe with a light exhaust, light wheels, suspension revalve they could make an effective track toy but I only have the road version to go on and that wasn't too good on track so anyone got any ideas ?

I'd rather have a Superduke for the track in all honesty. I'd imagine it's perfectly feasible to get something decent... However, really... What's it going to give that a Superduke won't ?

    yes. its called a superduke.

nothing wrong with the 950 around a track although the straights get boring quickly. not sure why youd want to re-valve the WP suspension. with the right settings it pretty darn good.

I love the 950sm dearly (on B roads as good as it gets) ....and it is fun around the right track...I started to do more and more track days.....BUT

    TRACK /road = RC8
    TRACK/ ROAD = Superduke
    ROAD /track =950sm

You could convert a 950sm....all the bits are available ...but you would end up with a slow VERY expensive Superduke

This is not because I have a Superduke....but more the reason why I got one

A superduke was suggested but he really likes SM's, a 950 is ok but having ridden one on track it is a bit well rubbish lol, I'm sure with some tweaking it would be ok and the guy who wants it isn't that quick. If he gets one will look forward to helping him get it set up

Just by changing the suspension, you can get it to really handle

You do not need to spend money (apart from higher pegs)

    (See my settings below)

    Front

Pre load - Nil - (turn Anti clock wise all the way)
Rebound - 6 Clicks from fully in (Top of fork)
Compression - 8 Clicks from fully in (Bottom of Fork)
    Fork leg through clamp 15mm
    Front Tyre 30psi

    Rear

    Pre load - Standard Setting
Rebound - 22 Clicks from fully in (Bottom of shock)
Compression - 3 Clicks from fully in (Top of shock)
High Speed Compression - 1 full turn out (Top of shock)

    Rear Tyre 30psi

Handlebars 1" foreward (more weight over the front)
I have seen the distant light...........and its........... Orange
