    990 Supermoto slip-ons?

I've decided my life would be greatly improved if I fitted some after-market end-cans to my '09 SM990. The KTM Powerpart-endorsed Akrapovic options have a price-tag which I don't think is worth paying. I was thinking of something like Leo Vince, Mivv, Devil or GPR.
I'm not really looking for a bhp boost (but that would be welcome). What I'm after is lots of noise and something that looks good. Any advice would be most grateful i.e. is re-mapping required, will the police pull me every time they hear/see me and, crucially, what brand is cool and what brand is, like, totally uncool (yes, I really am that shallow). Thanks in advance.

It is worth paying for akras, the question is does your budget stretch that far. If not get some second hand half price, problem solved.

FYI all adv/ SE/ SM cans are the same fitment (both 950 and 990)

Akrapovic is coolest.......Devil (Sound sooooooooooo good) Yoshimura, MIVV or .....another make that slips my mind...... an Akra Copy...with good reports and low bucks.....WINGS

best bet is to see EBay for some Akras....they keep their value

Sorry but lets face it....any other Exhaust on a KTM is like wearing Brown shoes with a Black Suit

Found some new Akra titanium slip-ons online going for a bit less than the Mivv ones I was interested in (carbon, oval, very easy on the eye). In fact, all the Mivv exhausts seem to be slightly more expensive than the Akra's. Any ideas which ones are the best? Both brands look cool...

It has to be Akra's, always Akra's, in every circumstance I'd get Akra's, everything else is just not quite there, although I do love the carbon Yoshi's . . .

The Leos are pretty good all round for the money, and i don't think you need to alter the fuel map. With the akros you will need to alter the fuel map (comes with it when buying new) but 2nd hand i think you will need to pay your local dealer to install it (or someone off the forum here)

If any exhaust does not require a fuelling change.....its not going to make a difference to power, Things are normally cheaper for a reason......Leos are very loud...and I have yet to see a performance increase over standard .........let alone over Akras (Akras are developed alongside KTM and are considered as a OME part and so do not affect any warranties.......)

You may consider a loud pipe to be good....but if you are considering track days they are getting increasingly intolerant about loud pipes, Static 105dB(A) tests are the norm....with some tracks ..(Silverstone to name one) have dB(A) metre running all day...with a black flag policy....my friend registered 112dB(A) on a static 8,000rpm test.........with Leo Vince Pipes.....with big Baffle IN....

for every additional 3dB(A) the sound doubles ....... baffles in on Leo Vince strangles the power further

I cannot imagine what it would hit with baffles out

    Ok. thanks for the info.

The Mivv website states that their pipes are designed so that a re-map is not required (in most cases). There is video of a SM990 on a dyno in their workshop, getting a right good revving. They've even got power and torque graphs on their site, comparing their pipes against the KTM stock pipes (I'm aware that these graphs could be works of fiction). Pricewise, they seem to match Akrapovic. At this moment in time, I'm trying to get through to my local KTM but the line is permanently engaged. If they can provide the Akra cans I'm after, and do the necessary magic with the fuelling map, then I think it's going to be Akras.

I have done back to back testing on the new Leovince exhausts & they offer a good gain read my link below. They are well worth the money in my eyes, I bought a STM slipper clutch + Levovince cans for the same price as a set of Akras exhausts. These Leovince exhausts did require a richer map, I did A/F ratio data logging before & after fitting the exhausts using the standard fuel map & my bike ran very lean after fitting the Leo's.
