(Apologies for the lengthy post)

Picked up my new SAS this morning and loving it. Didn't want to pay £400+ for OEM fog lights, but managed to get a new OEM set on eBay which I want to fit myself. The set I got comes with instructions for the older headlight version, where the switch is installed in the same panel as the power socket. First thing I looked at was where I mount the switch on the new bike, and there's a lot less cockpit plastic than the older model. When I asked the dealer, he said they're now controlled from the dashboard menu system. This seems rather a strange way of switching a light on and off. Not only that, but there's no mention of it in the manual, as there is for other optional extras such as heated grips and seat.

This leaves me with a few questions:

Is the dealer right - do the fog lights really work off the menu system?

If so:
  • Can I still use the loom that came with the lights, but omit the switch?
  • Is there some other cable required to plug into the bike's controller?
  • Can I just use the switch anyway, bypassing the controller?
If not:
  • Can I use the existing loom to plug into the ACC1 and ACC2 sockets, as per instructions for the older model?
  • What's the recommended location for the switch?
