If its a 2018 it only changes between two ignition curves. Not worth buying in my opinion.

On the 2019 it is different, it changes between maps instead of ignition curves.

 

I am interested to know how this happens provided that the ECU is the same,lame unit?

 

It is a 2019. Might be worth having then.

 

I've just found the owners manual online and it still says 'ignition curve' switch.

On a side note it lists two front sprockets as standard 14T & 13T, which one is it for offload messing about, used to be the 13T in the old two strokes.

 

Yeah will come with 14t, take it off and put the 13 on straight away

 

the performance one is on 1 ore 2 in the switch bottom?

 

On my old Husky I was told 1 for GO 2 for POO

It stayed on 1.

 

Depends what riding your going to do, I always liked the 14t standard set up for trails as it was super smooth

I have a map switch on my 19 .... not much info as I've only done 1.5hrs then went on hols ... didn't move the switch ... I'll come back with feedback .......
D3 loaded the latest maps etc and fitted the powerparts switch £70

How will I 'know' which version of map is in the ECU, my bike is coming from Premier bikes but is still in Austria at the moment, hopefully getting to them the back end of next week or the beginning of the week after.

Won't the ones coming out the factory this week be loaded with the latest map or is that wishful thinking??

 

I expect any updates will be done during the PDI,they have to register/ activate,or whatever the term is the bike or it'll stop after 30 minutes so it makes sense updates will be loaded then

 

Here we go, got that from a KTM/HQV dealer. 2019 TPI 300's can have two maps installed which you can change with the map switch. Same applies for 2019 HQV's.

In the paragraph above I think it is describing the sport map, but would like to read the whole thing if possible?

 

It's just ignition curve though, not fuel map.

Looks same as the 18's that.

I have Sports loaded up 08. If I had a map switch and set it to 2 or pulled the plug I'd get the 07 ignition curve but retain all the other 08 mappings.

The 08 map is really nice. Its not like "am gonna rip ya mtha fckin arms off "

 

So can anyone conclude if by changing the map switch on the 19 which previously changed only the ignition curve will now swap between the two actual maps and not the ignition curve ??

 

You cannot load 2 maps into the ecu. You will have one map loaded and the map switch will work exactly the same as previous years.

So full power setting in position one or closed circuit and softer power setting in position 2 or open circuit

If the 2019's are having two maps it means they must have completely new ECU. I think that would have been mentioned when they listed the updates for 2019.

 

I couldnt get the page from the dealer. However, its what he said and he may be wrong. But if so, how do you understand what it says in the owners manual above?

my tpi has a map switch and its like night and day, number 2 makes it pull like a train and number 1 defo feels less responsive.

 

Same part number for both 18 and 19 tpi300 cdi #55641031000

 

On the Welsh I switched between map 1 & 2 on my 300....have the sports racer map loaded. Did I feel much difference....yes, enough to calm the bike down for the tighter test / when getting a little more tired, or on the checks I wanted to conserve energy, so for me 100% worth having

 

What’s the best map to have installed on pdi ? Sports map ? I’m not wanting a savage beast infact the opposite something super smooth would be ace

 

Sports map is NOT a savage beast, its lovely! Sure it goes if you twist the throttle to the stop, but the bike is more tractable than my 2015 TE 300 with 2015 super rich jetting......
