Kev, can you also attain TDC by lining up the two dots, one on the top chain wheel and one behind it/just above? as this is how ive been doing it in the past after reading it on ktmtalk

Yes, the dot on the cam and the dot on the head will be in line at TDC. You can get away without using the locing bolt if you are careful.

Hi Kev - resurrecting an old thread here!
I'm thinking of having a go at adjusting the valve clearances on my 2010 400 - is the procedure the same for a 2010 bike as an 08/09? The bike is new - the dealer will probably do the first adjustment, but I'd like to learn how to do it myself. :redface:

My clearances currently about 0.10 - 0.12 on the inlets, 0.13 on one of the exhaust valves and about 0.10 on the other.
