I've got a 2005 525 EXC and the guy I bought it from said that the previous owner had put stiffer fork springs and a stiffer rear shock spring on. I got what I think are the originals with the bike.

My question is what is the standard rear spring?

The 2005 parts list says it's the 80N/mm spring...

The 2005 Owner's Manual says 88N/mm for ALL rider weights (60-72kg, 68-82kg and 78-92kg)

One of them must be wrong.... which is it??

80 is standard for 70 to 80kg rider, but its best to check the sag.

Thanks guys, that agrees with the fact I've got a spare 80N/mm spring!

With the 88N/mm spring, the static sag is ok (33mm), but the sag with me on it is right at the bottom of the range. I'll change the spring over when I can be bothered to change the fork springs and fork oil...
