Hi all,

I ride a 2016 690 Duke R with a TFT dash display and on starting I'm getting the message "ABS & MTC Fail", which is is obviously telling me that the ABS & traction control aren't working-so not good if it's accurate. Anybody else had this and if so is it a genuine fail and what's the fix?

Thanks in advance.

Make sure battery connections are really clean and done up tight.
Check the wheel speed rings, sensors and wiring for damage.

Low battery. There's no fix. It's part of the reason I sold my 690.
Even when the battery was 98% still get the error.

Fitted 3 different batteries including higher outputs, all same.

Thanks-useful to know that. The battery is permanently connected to a tecmate battery charger/desulpherizer/tester when the bike is parked up and the battery has never been an issue but from what you're saying even a new battery won't solve the problem. Does this mean that the ABS & TC aren't working or is it a false error code?

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.

If the message goes away in a second, they're working. Tested on track.

I used to get the error say 1st startup of the day, but then after that was fine. This was a brand new 0 mile bike.
It was in KTM several times under warranty but never got resolved.

We tried a ytz14s, ytz17s, a lithium and a motobatt.

The best one was the original 14s.

Fire it up with the charger on just out of interest?
