990 Adventure centre-stand

This is a bit embarrassing- I flew from Dublin to Plymouth on Friday 3rd June and bought a 990 Adventure 2008 privately. Two days later I am back in Belfast having rode the length of England to Stranraer and I love this bike. But there is a problem- I cant put it on the centre-stand! I am 5'11", 11.5 stone and not particularly strong. I have owned Laverda 3Cs, a Laverda Mirage, BMW GS 1100, BMW GS 1200 amongst others. I put all these bikes up on the centre-stand with one hand and a pint in the other hand. Well not really, but it was so easy on these other bikes. Does anybody else have any difficulty or suggestions because this is driving me nuts!

I put my weight down on the stand and lift with rear grab rail no problem

put your weight through the stand and lift up then back.it is harder then a z13 but it aint that hard,

I also lift using the front crash-bars. It'll go on its centre-stand even loaded up then.

They are a

bollox to put onto the centre stand, hardest bike I've ever had especially if you have luggage and a load of gear on them.
There's just a knack to it and lifting at the rear, while still not easy, is the best I've found so far.

Make sure its sitting firmly on both feet of the stand before you try using your energy....

Make sure both feet are down, use the grab bars, and wahey! up she pops! (with luggage on)

As mentioned already, I stand with my weight on stand while I pull up with my right hand the grab rail. I find it helpful to imagine trying to prise the stand and the grab rail apart if you see what I mean!

Peterut : You think you feel embarassed about your center stand issues, How do you think I feel. Just as you did, I brought my 990 home to Newtownards from England and got very worked up about the fuel gauage not rising above 4 clicks. After the very kind service engineer at Philip McCallens motorcycles pointed out the 4 clicks was the temperature gauge, I put my arai on over my very red face and made my way home. LOL . . . . . . Every day's a schoolday

I found it easier using the rear footpeg frame to lift on (I can keep my back straighter and use my leg power easier). Pull up and then up and back ..in an arc..(all in one motion), rather than just straight up.

I'm an old women too, so if I can do it...
