Are you Wazza's mate? He's got a battered rim too!

You can use gaffa/duct tape, just put a couple of layers on there..

That's actually not that bad, seen a lot worse on newer bikes, clean all the crusty bits off with a wire brush (don't go too mad with the brush)

I’ve always just wire brushed away loose surface. Wash. Let dry. Re tape and carry on.

Bush or wire wheel on hand grinder to get rid of loose stuff. I use afc50 and toothbrush to help prevent it going further. Two coats of ducktape trimmed down then rim tape. Clean each time you change tyres.
