Hi all,

2004adv with 30,000miles with a bad,BAD rattle. Stripped the bike down and locked up the rear and checked the rear cylindercam chain tensioner gap...nothing/zilch down to the threads of the housing bolt. No,i aint pressing the spring in which is making it appear this way.

Locks the front cylinder, checks the tensioner, about 11mm which is about the max i assume so i am guessing that i checked the rear correctly.

Question is,has anyone on here had to change their cam chain or just the guide(s)?
How many miles?
Did you manage to get swap the guide without taking the engine out?(rear cylinder?).
Could the tensioner have slipped to the side of the guide causing this?

Was your cam chain stretched?
Anyone know the spec/measurement between X-amount links to measure the cam chain for stretch?

Cheers in advance.

.....not looking forwards to getting the engine out again.
