Have been looking at Oberon slave cylinders for the 1290 , mainly for a lighter pull at the lever.

Whilst searching this popped up... Well several of them did if im honest

Its nearly half the price of an Oberon

Anybody tried one and have some feedback ?

Chineezy innit. Being from the UK, given a choice between made in Hampshire and made in Guangzhou, I'd cut out the mandatory donation to the CCP and a voyage half way round the planet on a diesel ship, pay the extra to a family firm in Havant and have it delivered by the postman.

I suppose if you live in the colonies buying stuff from the People's Republic of Do-As-Your-Told makes slightly more sense.

Still seems cheaper for me using AliExpress rather than eBay (ÂŁ62.39 v ÂŁ67.99).
Oberon is ÂŁ117.90 delivered.

So the question is, has it been copied in China or have Oberon started using China for the manufacture?
Just my opinion but I suspect with a lot of copies that appear it only happened because the "real" item was moved over there for production.

As far as I know Oberon still make most of their parts and their slaves in-house. I went over there a while back to pick something up as I'd been to Trevor Pope and was in the area. You could see the machine shop through the door as you went into the office with stacks of slave bodies and bar-end weights etc stacked up in baskets. The women in the office were assembling and packing slaves and other parts to order at a work bench. Whether that's still the case I don't know.

Confirmation. All Oberon Performance parts are designed and manufactured in-house. The images below are just as I remembered the factory when I went there:

How it's made by Oberon Performance

Almost certainly being copied in China though. Personally, I'd rather have the real thing, made by the original engineers here in the UK, let them have the business and keep the money in our economy.

I got a high flow water pump kit from nice cnc and it’s really good quality and fit. Materials seem fit for purpose and it works well.

I’ve sent my Oberon away to them before for a check over and rebuild (previous owner or mech had installed it wrong and I think damaged it or something, the shaft was scored from either being bolted up cocked or a bolt being loose?)
Either way, they rebuilt it for free for me and the service was first class as it wasn’t their fault, still did it.
They are a good company.

on the other hand I see why people would want to save a good chunk of cash? You get what you pay for.
if you want a U.K. made item with good service you pay for it.
If you want to pay less and go to China (like I did for the water pump) you can….

it won’t help to say but:
I would buy another Oberon from them.
I would also buy another NiceCNC water pump…

Well there's only one way to find out if they are any good, and that's to try one.

Seller linked to, offered an 8% reduction so the price paid was ÂŁ62.55

I won't get to use it this year as the bike will get sorn'd at the end of the month so the update will have to wait.

Over the course of the four Oberon slaves I've fitted to various bikes I've used both the original KTM plastic block and the Oberon aluminium one. Functionally it seems to make no difference. As far as I can see they're absolutely identical apart from the material. The plastic one works fine but the anodised Oberon item is prettier and technically stronger though I've never had an OE plastic one fail, except when it got chewed on my 1190 when the chain snapped. Oberon say that their metal block provides a better heat sink which keeps the slave cooler and improves it's function and longevity. If using the Oberon block you have to reuse the original spacers that go behind it as the Oberon one doesn't come with any.
