Only ones i have heard of have had to have a new casing with a bill just over 2K for the re-build, not actually heard anyone running with a repair as you mention, i suppose it depends where the repair is and how much stress is on that area

 

Just over 2k? Where from. I think worsecase I could stomach that much.

There is a crank case (new) currently for sale on ebay however its a 2017 1290 Super Duke R. Its difficult seeing if it is the same item (same last 4 digits in the KTM catalogue) but could it have a different tolerance etc?! If it was the same it would save alot of money

This can be used in certain applications, eg, filling and remachining. But you can't just buy a pot in Halfords.

Depends where the crack/damage is in the crankcase, if its held for two years without issue it doesn't sound like its in a critical area.

If you need to strip the engine down for welding repairs there is a good series on youtube (3 parts) so you can see whats involved time and parts wise. Although its about gearbox repair, the crankcase has to be split to get at the gearbox, you might need to do the same if welding repairs are required.

 

All depends on where the crack is. If its a high loading area no glue will hold it. If its a crack due to an off/stone etc then I suspect its been JB Weld epoxied, good stuff. If the crack is in the outer casings and descent ally welder will be able to fix it.
