ohlins hold the patent to the pds system because they designed it first and ktm under licence from ohlins were alowed to use the pds system in there bikes. The licence is due to expire very soon hence wp who ktm own have gone their own way back to a linkage system and is why no one else uses the pds system at the moment.

Think the more professional riders are not mad on it as it really limits your choice of suspension, but for those people who can manage 2 out of 3 races with flat tyres and only wonder why the bike handles "a bit funny" (namely, myself) they are perfect!
