Hi people,
So, I went to my local practice enduro on Sunday and basically fired my bike up, let it warm up, done a lap and then when I got back into the pit dropped all the oil out when the bike was still at operating temperature. I took the drain bolt out at the back of the engine with the magnet and washer on and then the bolt out from behind the gear lever with the oil screen in and then removed the oil filter. I tilted the bike over to get all the old oil out (old oil didn't actually look to dirty) and then I put everything back together with a new oil filter, removed the oil filler cap and put in 1 litre of 10w 50 motorex.
I didn't replace the oil screen or any o-rings but ensured everything was clean. I did however find some very small metal filings on the magnet and oil screen but again, cleaned those off thoroughly and assumed that a minor amount of metal filings is expected (I bloody hope anyway). I stupidly didn't buy the service kit that includes the other bits and bobs but thought it would be good just to get new oil in for the enduro and then I'd do all that next week before riding again (have ordered new o-rings, filter and oil screen and another litre of oil) I followed everything in the manual other than filling up the oil filter housing with one third of the litre of oil and now I'm absolutely bricking it as there's some ticking/tapping coming from the engine on start up but I'm sure it goes after riding for a minute or so.
I did ride it for the rest of the day with no issues and as stated above I'm going to do an oil service on it as soon as the parts arrive and then I'm going to chuck her in the garage for a valve clearance check. It's a 2020 plate 350 exc-f. I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what this could potentially be, if it can be sorted and what kind of price do mechanic's charge for a valve clearance check and possible adjustment?
Really appreciate any response.
