As per the title.. I’m new to green laning and general winter riding..

what’s the best to wear for waterproof gloves?

Road gloves feel very thick and clumsy

Try these...

Only joking! You are right even 'summer' road gloves are not nice when green laning, I just use some MX gloves, they are not warm but my 'bark busters' keep the draft off my hands anyway.

Mechanix gloves - best gloves l have used ..... better than any "offroad" gloves (not as bulky as they look in the link - good for summer and winter)

I have bought all sorts of "winter" gloves over the last 10 years or so and spent silly amounts of money. In the end, I now have simple neoprene trials gloves. They are windproof and get warmer when they get wet.

I have bad inflammatory arthritis and cold wet hands cause my finger joints to seize up and hurt like buggery.

A mate has some old army goretex gloves that work really well. Leather and flexible enough to work a rifle trigger.

Went to local surplus place yesterday to find the 'soldier 95' gloves and see if the would be a good alterbative for the mechanix gloves l use atm.

They had them - good gloves - thermal, waterproof, but too bulky for me for the dirtbike (not overly bulky, more like a summer roadbike glove, but defo lighter than a typical winter glove, and equally as capable from what @Steve Scurr said above). Defo a good contender therefore for road bike use when my current ones wear out (saying that, the halvarsons are bombproof and have lasted years).

Ended up not getting gloves, but they had these really mega warm hoodies - jack pyke sherpa - so l got one of them instead.

Lots of good stuff available - worth a look in your local place if you havent been for a while.
