I've had epilepsy since I was 17 (11 yrs ago) and gave it funky chicken on Monday night, I know when my fits are coming and get 10 mins or so in which I can get myself 'safe'.
But now after being fine and well for 18 months and finally purchasing a Duke II in June last year, my licence has got to go back to the DVLA and worse, I am thinking of selling my KTM.

Just having a moan and feeling sorry for myself................

Cheers for the support you guys.....................I'll get my licence back eventually, just a bummer as the Mrs has got a bike as well and she's thinking of getting rid too.

So we may have a Duke II and an XT125X for sale shortly !

Funky funky chicken.........

I haven't informed the DVLA yet, but I'll have to ring them later. An A&E doctor stopped at the roadside and rang an ambulance for me, I was just a bit 'weird' at first, then I couldn't speak and then a few minutes later I gave it the full 'funky chicken'.

I was under the impression that a night fit was seen to be worse than a day one, I remember the yearly medical questionnaires that I fill in, on them it said if you have night seizures, you have to be fit free for 3 years before you can drive, and day ones only 12 months fit free. I think if its a full seizure that you can't drive for a year minimum, partial seizures and auras are different I think.

Hope this never happens to anyone else with 'Orange Blood' :p

Bollocks !!!

actually,

I have recently done all this for my dad. and if you only have ne isolated seizure sometims you can still drive. but not sure how thats goes with previous.

My old man, is sorta the same he goes blank for like 2 to 3 mins beforehand as though he cant hear you or speak to you then goes full blown his are bad though (grand mal seizures they are called), bit through his tongue twice and the other time he popped his shoulder out the socket back the way which is apparently the hardest way to do it had to get it pinned back in. Last time he took one he ws in the bath...went straight under the water luckily I was there when it happened.

My gf's wee sis takes them too, she was having about 2 a day at one point, but now she maybe takes one every few days after new meds, she is getting brain surgery soon though. She is that used to it though she takes them on the bus and everything then when she wakes up she just goes about everything as normal!

The Mrs is thinking along the lines of some lovely shrubbery, pebbles for the garden and a holiday !

Nice idea though, think I could look do depressed looking enough for some Akras and some orange bits ;)

I just hope the 'sensible' part of my head doesn't kick in !

I was on Epilim for about 10 years, then I think my body got used to it, no matter how much I took, I still had fits, only a few where I lost consciousness and p!ssed my pants though :D

Now I have been weened onto Lamotrigine and taken completely off the epilim. I have been on these ones for about 2 years now and have been doing fine.

I had been to ther gym on Monday and was on my way home, oh and I was stressed to fook as I had just been given some devastating news.........personally I think the bad news and low blood sugars I had (confirmed by ambulance staff) had cause this episode and I just hope the Epilepsy Doctors and DVLA put it down to that as well. Think they call it a 'provoked' seizure, fingers crossed. :hmh:

Thanks for the supportive posts.

Mark.

Runt Dem DVLA Lot

Just bit the bullet and rang the DVLA, lady on the phone is sending me some forms to fill in, she said it could be put down as a 'provoked' seizure. Not sure what this entails, whether it's a reduced loss of licence or what ?

Fingers crossed it comes down to be one of those !!!

I'll keep you all posted, thanks again for the support.
