Hi. I have been offered an hid kit (8000k, h7, ballast, 55watt, double bulb). I want to know if it can be put on the 2003 ktm duke ii 640 lc4. would it have any adverse effect on the wiring or get too hot ect.
I have fit a 35watt HID to 2003 640 SM. Should fit on quite easy. I used the small tool box on the right of the rear wheel to store the relay and mounted the ballast behind the right radiator, on a bracket I fabricated out of ali.
The 55 watt will pull no more current than the standard bulb, so will not damage the loam if fitted correctly. Also I had no problem passing the MOT with the bulb fitted.
The only issue I have found, is that the bulb shook it's self to pieces from the bikes vibrations, so when I refitted all the shields I used loctite on all the screws.
I can only add; a mod well worth doing as I can now clearly see where I am going even when being approached by a cage with full beam. And when on full beam myself he can see me!!
