Brilliant. You haven’t lost it, there isn’t any compression or rebound damping from factory.

 

Any chance the rebound adjuster has sheared off? What happens if you turn it all the way in or out? Does it stop or keep clicking?

Mine did this but on an much older bike after a few years of being neglected.

 

The adjuster moves in and out as it should, and clicks . . but has no bearing on actual damping at all. (ie, fully in is the same as fully out !!)

 

9.5k bike with poor suspension, you got to be joking? Can’t be that bad surely.

 

Oh yes it can, just look at that video of that 500 exc david knight built, he chucks half the bike in the bin and replaces it with more expensive stuff including the PLASTIC piston in the shock, maybe that is the problem with the shock on this bike.

 

Sounds like something wrong internally then.

 

Shock apart time most likely, but do turn the adjuster all the way both ways first and test . If the shock clunks as you bounce up and down then the main piston nut has come loose, it's good to catch this, though if you dont you'll at least have the opportunity to get a nice new Ohlins. Could also be lack of oil or air in there if the seals are gone, and the rebound shaft can freeze in place, but from your description it's not sounding like that's the case. Good luck.

 

What happens if you take the spring off and compress the shock? Does it return or just stay compressed? If it stays compressed it suggests the gas has escaped.
