load of bollocks. I have never seen, never heard never had experience of an HD tube "overheating". That's not to say it isnt possible, but I have strong feeling its an urban myth. get some in, chuck in some slime, get cracking.

 

does the slime work?
I used to use 'Stans no tubes' in my tubes because it uses grains of latex to congeal around the hole (great on tubless mtb) but don't think it worked as good as it should in inner tube, I'm assuming because of lack of air to cure latex solution.

 

I read the same, on here, and decided it was bollocks. I have super HD in my 950.

Does the slime avoid the need for a can of foam but still need a can of air?
Or will it seal enough to get you to a garage?
Depending on the size of hole, obviously.

Mike has already told me I can't use Tubeliss in my 690 and I would imagine road riding would destroy mousses (not that I want to use them, anyway).
I won't know what is in mine until I change the tyres and I'm not going to bother just having a look.

 

I have HD tubes inside an old tube cut open. Not had a puncture yet. (Ripped a few valves though!)

Have HD in the tyres but all ways carry standard as a spare, takes up less room and easier to change.

 

If a tube gets hot and fails, its probably installed incorrectly. Get a bottle of talc, liberal coating.....don't ask Wazza.

 

I just fitted HD. Not easy to install in a new tyre, my knuckles will testify to that. But well worth the effort, man are they thick!

I've asked this 3 times before, does anyone else use Slime?!

 

I've used it, its okay if you get thorns or nail type punctures anything bigger and it just makes a bloody mess, also makes the puncture hard to repair. The slime makes glueing a patch on nigh on impossible. I just wont bother anymore, I do use it on MTB

I do also carry a can of tyreweld but that is only for a real emergency

 

I have a bottle of slime type stuff, that can either be put in the tube first as a preventative method, or added after a puncture as a repair method! Not had to use it yet but carry it with me just in case, so i will be using it for the latter use if required.

 

Can I advise that to use as the latter won't work.

 

I use mousse lube on my tubes.

Was thinking it may help with pinch type flats.

Surely if a nail gets through your tyre it's coming through your tube thick or thin, yes I understand it may help with thorns.

It's the barb wire at head height that I have more issues with!

 

I've used the can of foam stuff....the tube goes in the bin after. Taking a repair kit and levers.....good tip is to carry some alcohol swabs, like the kfc wipes.....

 

I sell the fragrance for those KFC wipes.

 

I know what you mean Mike but this is the stuff i have and in the instructions it implies that it can be used post puncture! Or am i reading it wrongly! If you look at instruction 2 it states that 'remove the offending object' then put the slime in.

 

The benefit with it pre installed is, it will stop the tyre deflating and catch the leak instantly , and then there's no need to drain the air and fully inflate again.
But your right it can be added as you say and the Slime will then find the hole.

 

Yes I know what slime is, Dibbs. You may have more luck but I have never found it works when applied post-puncture. It needs to be in the tube to begin with for it to work. Afterwards the problem is that there is no pressure to force it towards the hole and seal.

 

The first time I punctured with slime installed it all came out into the rim/tyre - made a good awful mess. Can't patch on the trail due to green shite everywhere.

Took forever to clean rim & tyre.

Never used again.
