I certainly rate them - I had two but the older 2014 version.
I bought one, rode it for around a couple of years, had a brief flirtation with a Husky FE450 but went back to the 690 for another three years. Only sold it a few weeks ago because I have retired from trail riding.

I am a talentless old git but still found it ok on the sort of lanes I would tackle, whatever the bike.
Great on road and pretty comfortable but better when I raised the gearing a tad. I didn’t notice any negativity off road as 64bhp (or whatever) is sufficient but never intimidating as it was easy to ride on the throttle. But keep it in full power mode as I found the softened power would stall at trickling speed.
