After much dissapointment yesterday, i am not giving up yet.
I sat on a 2010 exc 125, sad too say there huge compared to me. I'm pretty much dead set on an exc.
The dealer said "all models are the same size no matter what the year". After some research i've found out that, for example an 04 is 2-3" lower than an 2010.
I belive another 2" and it'll be perfect. Some people have said about cutting the seat foam etc.
As this will be also road legal, i would want to be able to touch the floor comfortably, as i could see myself slowly falling off sideways at a junction :frown:
Oh and, my inside leg is around 28.

Thanks Ryan.

mate i am in the same boat as you with my 2009exc250

ktm do sell a lower seat 20mm lower than the standard seat which helps
you can drop the forks through the clamps a little bit 10mm ?
make sure the rear shock preload is set for your weight
buy different tyres that are not as deep

if you play around with the suspension too much is can really mess up the handling. you can take your suspension to a specialist who can lower it by changing the internal components but this is expensive.

just get used to a tall bike, thats what i have done, all i have done to mine - i power parts lower seat. set the preload not dropped the forks. after a while you just get used to a tall bike.

How expensive to have a shock service in the UK. Because there is no major work involve to modify it, i do this most of the time. mainly hondas and i have done it also to 125 ktms and they do benefit with 5 mm lowering on the 02 and 03 we have had good success over here down under.

.
how do you do that?

I'm guessing the lighter you are the more you can compress the preload - I think the manual says 1 cm max of pre load can be wound on. But are there figures for static sag that I should set it to?

Cheers

If you fit an 05 to 07 EXC shock it will lower it by 25mm.

Push the forks up by 20mm.

Fit correct springs for your weight, job done :)

Give Ktech a call, for £130 I had my shock lowered, gives 30mm at the rear wheel, pushed the forks up 30mm and cut out the seat. absolutely the buisness,
saves falling off when you stop and gives you more confidence, A no brainer for short arses.

Thanks for the replies guys. I would like to idealy get a rough price of the lowering, as i havnt purchased one yet, i don't know what year it'll be. I've sat on an rieju marathon pro 125 & this was just about right, bearing in mind there smaller sm wheels.

Edit: I've found an 06, with sm wheel's it's 3k, without them it's nearlly 1k cheaper, Bikez.com is telling me an 06 is 36.4 inches, the 2010 is 38.8 inches. How much could i get this lowered?
So let's say -20mm with a lower seat. What else?
