Is there any difference besides price between these two oils? or is it just that the price is couple of quid dearer for the name on the Power Synt?

I fully understand one is supposed to be for the road and the other for endure/motocross but have been told they are both actually identical quality of oil.

Motorex Power Synt 4T 10/ 50 Engine Oil 4L Fully Synthetic.

Motorex Cross Power 4T 10/ 50 Motocross Enduro MX Fully Synthetic Engine Oil.

I had a look around the net a couple years back and did find a small piece from a motorex guy saying they were basically the same oil with some very small differences in the additives because of their intended uses. I very much doubt you or your your bike would notice any difference. I used the cross power in my 990 with no ill effects that I know of.

Yeah. Had it from the horses mouth – guy from Motorex himself. He told me that cross power doesn't have any detergent additives because in theory cross power oil is nominally changed after only a certain number of hours running whereas the power synt can be expected to go many thousands of miles and last a year or more.

Upshot was that for One oil change, no worries but don't make a habit of it.

I only queried it because The fucking dealer failed the very simple request of putting the oil in that I requested. Kind of symptomatic of the way they performed as a whole really.

Weird the way I was thinking about the same thing last night as I have a bottle of the road stuff and was thinking of using it in my 250f

As 1976td has already said on this thread there is a difference between the two. Spoke to head mechanic at Rockets today same question the answer is this yes they are different,

The cross power because of the type of riding and bike is likely to be changed more often so does not have the same durability properties that the power synt has built into the oil. This is why the power synt is slightly more expensive.

Dear binchap you nasty bastard hope this clears the little misunderstanding between the two oils. Hope this helps!
