mousse lube or not lube

I have just fitted my first Mousses and did an enduro on them on saturday, really pleased with them btw moved from UHD tubes, but I did NOT lube the actual mousses inside the tyres, other than with a spray to help with the fitting. Should I have lubed them? Should I go through all the hassle of taking the tyres off and refitting them just to lube them, and it will be real hassle for me as have only ever fitted two mousses in my life! What are your recommendations?

Fair play John, assuming it was Comp 6 front + Desert Mousse, not easy to fit for your first go ? You should get some lube in, the Bib -up is only Bead lube and dries off , all good practice take if off again !! so shove the all the tube of gel in that can in the box , customers are getting long hours out of Comp 6 fronts , so get it lubed !!

I'd take it off and lube it excessively. Yes its shite and yes all the goo splatters in your garage and fookin stuff is hard to get off the rims, but my experience is that well lubed mousse lasts longer, especially when it is hot and you need to go on tramac a few miles...

ok am doing the powys in a few weeks time, which has a lot of road work so its out with the levers and in with the lube!

Al - tyres and mousses awesome at blewbury at the weekend , I scored my first ever first place in sportsman / beginner, they just gripped brilliantly and I didn't fall off once in three hours, in spite of all the rain on Friday and the course being awash (in parts) on saturday (soon dried though) contrast that with my 19th place the preceeding sunday at llansillin where I spent most of my time on my arse as the tyres constantly letting go on the grassy banks! Comp 3 and Comp 6 just rock :) :)

Thanks :) I saw you on the results list but with no times and didn;t think I had seen you at the track :( :( The field was actually a bit smaller I thought than the last reading event a couple of months ago and definitely more testing the motocross circuit in the woods was really muddy and slippery for the first few laps and also the big climb as you came out of the woods again on the motox track claimed a few riders, but the grip soon came in after a few laps :) the best bit for me was all the twisty stuff in the woods, as a long time trials rider and old man, that suits me, open fast going like Llansillin doesn't really suit me, now if I was twenty again (like I think I am lol!) I would love the fast open going! No I didn't even realise Canada heights was on, and now its full :( :( otherwise I would of been definitely there, next for me is the Powys then I am booked on the Beacons and then maybe selattyn and def monmouth and probably haresfield as both are only 30 mins away from home for me, but Haresfield is really evil if it is wet! Good luck at Canada Heights and enjoy :)

not done monmouth as an enduro but done trials there awesome part of the country should be good but challenging and done haresfield a couple of times, once in the rain when it was hell, there are woods at haresfield, its basically hillside a bit like a cross between llancillin and long compton, smooth as llancillin but only about as steep as long compton and then a wooded section a bit similar to shuckborough, the woods are at the bottom though so can get boggy and the hill, well imagine long compton in the rain and there you have it!

Jm spear Congratulations on your win in sportsman class I also won this class last race so was in clubman B this time and managed to bag an 8 th which I was fairly happy with for a first attempt. I enjoyed the new sections they have introduced but the bumps in the woods still kill me.
Maybe see you next time when your in clubman B lol.

yup think it is time for clubman B, but find the circuit either suits or doesn't your riding style / skill level, only my second time at this circuit, but on my beginner performance I should have been in clubman B as well on the day as I think I would have come about 9th! but last sunday at Llansillin I was 19th in sportsman, but really didn't like the course, kept falling off and spent more time on my ar$e than bike, this sat didn't fall off once, yes the bumps still kill but sooooo much better than the May event (my first at this venue) when they really killed as many more of them and deeper! so I will be clubman B next time :)

Thanks TQKTM.Or the not so young at the age of 41. Yes been going up to the motocross track for the last couple of Sunday's which I think paid off but my fitness is still letting me down really strugled to complete the final lap but will keep battling on. It's a shame they only do the 3 events there each year.

good effort James, very well done, especially if you were cream crackered on the last lap, get fit and you will smoke the others :) fitness was ok for me, still got some left after loads of training for five months for the welsh two day, even though done no fitness traniing since the welsh, my problem is I am too slow on the wide open throttle bits, at 52 I don't thing this will change, just want more technical stuff, as this slows down the fast racers and suits me :) I have to agree shame not more events at this venue, its my new favourite venue :)

anyway back on topic, pulled off the front tyres (two bike mine and my sons both new tyres front and back and new moussses) and mousses off - took a while to work out removal technique but got there - never taken mousse tyre off before!, lubed up the tyre inside with brush - neat way of doing it worked well, then refitted tyres and mousses, getting better at this now, so both went on fine - but could I get the rear tyres off could I heck so front tyres all lubed up, rears still unlubed :( will need to figure how to get the rear tyres off the rims :( :( also I realised I have forgotten to fit a tubeless valve to one of the front tyres, I presume this really doesn't matter as tyre seated perfectly and I really cant be bothered to take front off again just to fit valve!
