Plc's thread about a group trip to his wee island, and subsequent forum bashing, lol, got me thinking... I've done a couple of trips to Northern Spain on the bikes over the last few years and they've been the best times I've had on a bike. I haven't been over there for about 3 years... time for another trip me thinks in 2011

Base ourselves in a hotel with secure parking in the town of Jaca for about 6/7 nights, ripping up some of the best roads that northern Spain has to offer. Bear in mind that the ferry crossing from the UK is a 24 hour job, so the full trip will be more like 9/10 days

Just putting it out there for now to guage interest. Fancy it? Wouldn't want to be too large a group. Previous trips have been 5 or 6 of us and all kept together well. Anything larger than that group size and things become more problematic, but if there was loads of interest we could perhaps split it in to 2 groups or something.

Cannonball Bike Run 2011
The time of your life
Done it twice. Loved ewery minute of it.

Would have done it this year too but destroyed the bike and lot of bones on track early this summer and had to miss it.

Definately going next year.
Hard to explain what it's like.

The cops and government are in on it and instead of harassing bikers and handing out fines they stop the trafick and let us through and give police escorts trough biger busyer cities.
Last three runs not a single speeding ticet was issued.

There are alot of different types of bikes and riders so you'll get to ride at your own pace. Some fast, some slow, some insane (the Finns) and ewerything in between

The organisers also help with bike transportation if you think ride to the start - then the ewent - and ride back home is a bit too much.

DO IT !
YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO

Hi, i'm James. I'm gonna let you know where i am. Umm it is a nice idea however i don't think i'll be able to loose all that time off work. It's also a lot of money to sit in traffic. So for that reason.

I'm out ;)

Sit in traffic on the N260, no way mate, best bit of tarmac 'this side of Naggers'. Sounds like a cunning plan, cost wise I did a similar trip in 09 the ferry was about £175 if I remember correctly but its well worth it as you just get on and get on the beer.
What about doing a loop from Santander back up to Calais, staying in hotels where and when you feel like stopping? I'd be up for either depending on time/date etc etc.

2fst, honestly mate, the trips I made were about the best 2 weeks of my life - I kid you not. Imagine roads better laid out than Cadwell, with sunshine and amazing views. Sit in traffic? Not a chance. They love bikes over there and the cars will drive up on to the grass verges to get out of your way, windows down with the occupants waving their hands out cheering you on, beeping the horns like mad bastids :D Give up road riding in the UK by all means, but seriously, experience riding Spanish roads before before you rule that out too - absolutely out of this world mate

XFB, total cost is a tricky one to estimate with it having been a while since I was last over but at a guess:
Hotel £200 for 5 nights
Ferry £185
Fuel £150ish
Food n booze £Up to you
Travel insurance £40

I reckon my last trip was probably in the region of £800 all-in
