I find my superduke a superb bike and dealers have always been top class and very helpful
Especially saltire
Why do you think more will be falling like dominoes richh n
Is Ktm management bad
are KTM’s a bad bike
Or is it just a down drop on sales of all bikes around the world
In Scotland Ive found lately there is a upsurge of people riding again
And I love the duke and always come home with a smile

Start of the riding season down here, and it's like in winter there were scattered showers of CFMoto adventure bikes as they are now like mushrooms. Where last year it was a rash of orange 890s.

Companies change, and I suspect unless KTM regroups to Austria and times of old they are on their way out. Or at least on their way to Chinese and Indian naughty corner.

KTM share priced drop 65% in 3-4 years, says it all.

Greed has fucked them, profits 1st with quality / reliability/ warranty not even a consideration.

They don't listen to what the public or their loyal customers want, everyone is fucked off with them.

We pay to beta test their products and get fucked over when we find defects.

Dealers have to spend a fortune to be a KTM dealer, then have to bear the brunt of the unhappy punter.

The 790 / 890 / 990 (wait for it) cams issue is a great example of shit design and corner cutting.

Race on switch issues and water leaks on 1290s - something 1190s never suffered from, loads of electrical gremlins.

Add to that service prices, my KTM dealers rates have rocketed way ahead of my pay since my 1st KTM in 2016.

Dirt bikes no better, prices keep going up while quality & reliability keep going down.

They are truly fucked now.

My local Triumph dealer is only open Monday to Friday now but…..he is doing more business than pre-covid.
85% of customers are retired or self employed and he will open up by appointment on Saturdays.
Saturdays were mostly queues of oiks booking test rides and going out for free rides in groups so now everyone except the freeloaders are happy.
The business is there if the bikes and dealer are right.

Re the test rides. I had a pretty good interest about the F900GS that came out when shopping for the 790, BMW dealer said "oh you shouldn't need a test ride, people buy these bikes sight unseen they're that desirable..." fuck right off, completely scratched off the list just for that shitty attitude even if it's a good bike....

Even if i have 0 intention of buying a bike, you as a dealer should let people try otherwise they don't know what's out there and say stupid shit like a suzuki gsxs1000gt being better than an S1000XR or 1290 GT 😗

There’s a difference between genuine test rides and guys out for a free morning on someone else's bike(s).
I guess that after around 50 years you soon know the genuine ones from those taking the pi**.
Some dealers now want 48 hours’ notice for a test ride / drive. Booking in for a popular car is one thing, just doing it to make life easier is not the way to do business, which is probably why they are doing well.

Went to look at new carpet for lounge at local carpet firm, about a grand for a kind of mid priced one, which they did for me 10 years ago, I said if I paid for a higher end one would it last much longer.

"oh no, they are all rubbish compared to what they once were and even if you buy higher end stuff these days it wears just as fast" - Nice to get some honest sales advice for a change, nates brothers firm so I get a decent bit of discount too, but I had not announced who I was, just talking to the lady in the shop, and nice to see a family business still in business these days!

Smaller firms find it ever harder to survive, Premier was running out of a converted house when I bought my 1st 1190, its now at least 5 times bigger, has taken on Triumph & CF Moto (and is no longer family owned) the Triumph move looks good seeing as KTM are on a suicide mission, having pissed off all there traditional customers in favour of a new trendy bunch and filling the mid-priced ranks with the parallel twins they now seem determined to ensure they will never touch another KTM ever again!

Not so sure KTM will go bust, probably a bit big to do that, maybe a CF Moto buy out of the entire group when the shares get down to a few pence each.
