As per title....

wanna see all sorts, from the 100% road legal (whatever the fuck the rules are concerning that nowadays)
to
asking for a tug from cops (I expect proponents and opponents of these, but I’m sure there’s tons of examples to see)

obscure your reg numbers if you don’t want them displayed. I’m just interested in the plate size/shape/fitment not if yours says KTM1 or T1TTS or whatever. Post links off net if you have em.

BTW, mine will have a 5-character reg number, so looking for the smaller stuff.

cheers fuckers

I use officially illegal Flexiplates with a bolt on plastic reflector (stick on strips won’t even get through my MOT man).
Having a 1 in the year number keeps the width down.
Then trim it with 11mm clear yellow all round.
It’s still quite large but essentially legal enough - there is a history round here of police number plate size obsession so it’s not worth being too silly.

Thanks for replies.
Totally get the issues with the police, but like you said @Pindie, a full size legal wouldnt last two seconds. Did you remove the stock holder to fit your plate? With what?
@DavidS the flexiplates are what I’ve looked at but need to see photo on a bike. I think they do 3” x 3”, 3” x 4” and other sizes up to the legal (whatever that is)

I am between bikes at the moment so no photos.
Legal is 9 x 7 but it comes down quite a lot when trimmed.
I’ve always reckoned 7 x 5 is a perfectly good size for legality but the powers that be won’t go there, even though fewer people would probably put silly plates on.

I've always used a 7 x 5 flexi. large enough to not be taking the piss, small enough to cope with being smashed around without breaking. They normally last about 1 - 2 years of serious abuse before splitting.
Never been pulled up by the Rozzers for it, and even when we were all stopped by Operation Blackbrook in the Peaks many years ago, none had legal plates, and the Police said nothing about them. Quick PNC check, glanced over the bikes, lights and horn, On your way lads....... 😀

Mine is the same shape as Pindie's but a little larger. I use 2 inch wide heavy duty velcro from Halfords, stuck directly onto the mudguard. It will rip off in a crash rather than break.

I have an 8 inch scar on the back of one leg caused by a broken road legal acrylic plate in a bad off in my 20s. I've never had a full size plate since and I'll take a fine if necessary. Thankfully, l've managed to talk my way out of a few by telling them about the scar.

Up til now I've always ran a full size 9x7 flexi, and on 2 bike overs 5 years I've never broken one or had an issue with one and I drop my bike ALOT! The old one was getting a bit tatty and peeling in the corners so before it was completely wrecked I thought I'd try a slighty smaller one and gone for a 8x6. It's only 1/2 per side smaller but does look less vulnerable and I've angled off the bottom corners. I'll take a pic when I'm out the garage in the morning if I remember. It obviously depends on what riding your going to be doing. If your doing green lanes with a fair bit of road work then a bigger one is probably better, but if your going more 'off piste' then maybe it's it too much of an issue. Although I do put a little 3x4 one for races if a plate is required, but the road bits only tend to be a couple of hundred yards on the races I do. If I was doing something like the Welsh 2 day I'd probably use my larger one.

Welsh cops are total cunts so I get why you’d want the fully legit one on road sections.
Riding I’ll be doing WILL involve some road so I’m bound to get pulled over. I expect to do a lot of falling off so after reading about the plate becoming a surgical instrument (above) and slicing a leg open Il’m all for the 3x3 flexi now.

IIRC number plate violations are non-endorseable so if I’m caught I’ll pay the fine. Fuckit.

Mine is 3x3 from Flexiplates. Completely illegal but i‘ve never been stopped. Bike doesn't need MOT for a while yet (2019 Model).

My rigid full size plate came off after about an hour of an LDT after I nose dived from a rut into a hedgerow but it was picked up by the guys behind. I tucked it behind the headlight mask and at least two police cars saw me but fid nothing.
I zip tied it on an hour later but lost it again somewhere on the Pilgrims Way so had the last couple of hours plateless.
Someone is probably still riding round with my plate on after 6 years or so.
