Might aswell strike the Chinese sm pro from the list, if money is no object go for the quality talon excel set up

 

Have you ever used SM Pro wheels? Easily the best spokes available anywhere, billet hubs equal to Talon and the Platinum rims are at least as strong as Excel (so better than the cheaper Talon) and in our experience a more reliable wheel than Talon/Excel (mainly due to the spokes & nipples).

There are 2 versions of Talon; cheap and expensive.

 

I got some Talon off Al Ranger not long ago ....quality product with good service

 

Al supplied these, good guy to deal with. They look pretty trick too, me, nah, I'm shit.

 

I think I might buy one Talon wheel and one knee brace. I just hope it's the right wheel and right brace!

 

What's the difference in the spokes? Material used? Diameter or both?

I can't go fast enough to kill wheels but longevity is always a good thing.

 

The steel is different but I think it's also something to do with Central Wheel's threads and nipples too. Generally the rear uses 8 gauge and front uses 9, it is possible to get 8s in the front too but not many folks bother.

Sid's work is good. I'm not sure but I'd expect uses Central Wheel spokes (bought as blanks or maybe uncut wire).

Something to bear in mind is a complete wheel will be much cheaper than buying a hub, rim, spokes, nipples, bearings, seals and spacers.

 

Give Sids wheels a ring 07855 5566713 he makes his own spokes and are very strong, He built me a rear wheel for my 950 which gets used very hard off road and I have never had a spoke even come loose. He orders in what ever hubs rims you need then builds them up making his own spokes to suit.

 

I had Talons, now have SM Pro's both do the job, I just prefer the SM Pro,
